For the second year, Beans & Brews will take place in Elizabethtown, Pa on the second Friday in March. Beans & Brews is a unique event that combines judged homebrew and chili competitions with a public tasting. BJCP certified judges will chose winners in the homebrew contest, but a taster’s choice award will be given as well.
If you’d like to partake in the tasting, it costs $10 each for either beer or chili or $16 for both. You can purchase tickets at <a href="http://www.eventbrite.com/e/2014-etown-beans-and-brews-tickets-9785872809" . The event will take place outside the public library, unless the weather forces it to an indoor back up location. The tasting will take place from 5:00-8:00 PM and awards will be given out afterwards at Lucky Ducks restaurant down the street.
I was unable to make it last year and sent my parents in my place. They said it was a good time and I’m very excited to be going this year. I entered three beers into the competition and I’ll be posting about each of them in the next few days. The first beer, my take on an imperial amber ale, is called Dawn of the Red. I’ll post about it tomorrow. On Tuesday, I’ll write about my first sour beer, Berlin(er Weisse). The third beer, actually a variation on Berlin(er Weisse), is called Ich Bin Ein Berliner and it adds raspberries to the mix.
